Nice chapter. I always like to think that Mr. Weasley is a good person and probably the best of the Weasleys. But you did have Ginny come off as some sort of roobot. Her and Ron got what they had coming.

I enjoyed the way you described the tension between Harry and Hermione at the end of the chapter. It never cases to amaze me that Hermione and Ron ended up together. Keep up the good work.

Every time I take a long break on portkey, I come to check on you, first. This isn't bad, and I can't wait to see where it goes.

I just love Arthur. There when Harry needed him, if only briefly. Can't wait for the next chapter. |

This is such a cute little fic. I like to think that even though JKR wrote H/G and R/H, Harry and Hermione are inevitable. You can only keep two soul mates apart for so long! |

A little different than your usual, but I'm enjoying it just the same. You give the emotions a lot of depth. Looking forward to things becoming less "plastic" for Harry. |

Excellent story. Hopefully we get some of the Romance between our two favorite characters. I like how the angst has always had the hope, the hope for real, substantial and grounded love between HHr. The ache that both our heroes felt is almost palpable. Well done and thanks for sharing your work with us

Hurray for Harry he figured it out. The damage the it strewn about should be interesting . Love the angle that you are using. That they have grown apart. glad that Arthur understand but the fall out will probably be nasty but should make and interesting addition to the plotline and what happens from here on out. Dark wood so they converted the Black house. or that it was it sounds like |

It's funny ... with Ginny at first 'apologising', and then 'freezing, stricken', I was thinking to myself "but that's not the aggressive Ginny of canon!". Only to read the very next sentence of Harry's:
> “What happened to you?” he asks
So I was particularly plugged into the chapter by that point, curious to know what, indeed, had happened to the Potters.
You know, I'm not completely on Harry's side with this. I personally am in a big believer in complete honesty/disclosure ... which Harry has followed ... but he didn't give Ginny a chance to change, to fix things, did he? She asks "what can I do?" and Harry has already made up his mind. Hmmph. That, plus the slight element of guilt/substance in the Harry/Hermione thing, makes me uneasy in fully supporting Harry here.
Nice talk with Arthur, but an *excellent* ending - "I flooed Hermione". Totally unexpected and kicks the reader abruptly back to the underlying H/Hr theme of the story, leaving us at the close feeling good about the level of understanding between those two. |

Another wonderful and heart-wrenching chapter. Anyone who is or has been married can relate at least a little to Harry's and Ginny's situation. People change over time and if they don't work at it, they'll drift apart without realizing it.
So I suppose the next chapter will be Touch, then Taste? Or the other way round? Either way, I can hardly wait. Thanks again for your beautiful stories, especially Eight and Resistance, both of which I have recommended wholeheartedly to anyone who'll listen. |

This is turning out more finely nuanced than I expected.
There's brilliant writing all over. Harry getting perverse satisfaction in getting a rise out of Ginny struck me as rich. It's so incongrous as to be completely telling.
It told me instantly what's wrong with Ginny (she's become an ice princess), what she thinks of Harry, what Harry thinks of her, what's wrong with their relationship, how Harry is conflicted by warring emotions, wanting out of the marriage but possibly not wanting to hurt her too much.
It should be what, 20 years from the end of canon? They could be complete strangers to us.
That they appear changed just enough but not so different as to be unrecognizable is not a minor feat of characterization (and implicit characterization at that).
Figuring out their personalities, more than figuring out what happened over the years, is half the joy.
The other half is in taking in the strong imagery, the realism of their emotions and interaction.
With a character-driven fic, it would have been easy to end up with flat or archetypal figures. Instead we get a rounded Ginny and unexpectedly warm father figure in Arthur despite a mere cameo from him.
This is very fine dramatization. Hats off!
Thank you for writing this fic. Update soon! |

I love the way you integrated sound into this one, all the little touches like the shattering of china.
But my favorite part? Arthur. I adore the fact you made Arthur a father for Harry completely independent, yet inexorably tied to, the Weasleys.
Brilliant. |

I've moved on from HP only come here now when I get a chapter alert from a favorite author.
Lorien, I have to give you credit--only you could write a fic that could possibly make me feel even a tad sorry for Ginny. And believe me, such a feeling is totally foreign to me, as I really loathe her in canon.
Loved this line-it's classic:
"...as if Hermione has gone and left him to be married-to-a-Weasley all alone."
So true...
Looking forward to more of Shadow Walker when you can...
