Yes, I am a muggle, and I am a dad. 3 beautiful kids, a 4 year old boy and twin 2 year old girls. Not much spare time (obviously), but I love to read HP FF.
After the nightmare that was HBP & DH, I was very disillusioned with the whole HP universe. Then I started reading some FF stories where the plot made sense, characters had continuity over time and random events didn't intrude with earth shattering events (unlike HBP & DH).
So on to the ship wars. On the whole I am an HHR shipper. I fell in love & married a woman who was a great friend, not some random chick. Granted, ickle gin-gin wasn't some random chick, but I used the previous "ickle gin-gin" on purpose. (read about character continuity above). To be fair though, JKR did herself no favors by giving Ginny approximately 3.5 sentences through the first 5 books and then made her Harry's "true love." Come on! If there is a good HG, I read it like Viridians Nightmares of Future Past or Saving Harry by The Seeker. Two really good ones on SIYE.
If you can't tell from my story, I think the youngest Weasleys and their mother are morons. The twins, Bill, Charlie and Arthur are good guys & Percy has a lot of redemption possiblities, but ickle ronniekins and ickle gin-gin? As portrayed by canon, they are (in order) 1. a jealous, immature jerk, whose only emotional reaction is to lash out and try to hurt those around him who only thinks of himself and what he will or won't get out of a given situation and 2. a scary fan-girl who has carried on the fantasy dreams of childhood into her teen years unchecked. What is that?! Someone please tell me why I should like these two characters as written by JKR? Some FF has a 'redemption' of sorts for the two, who knows.
